Nortje finishes seventh to lead Blue Hawk wrestling at NAIA nationals

Park City, Kan. – Dickinson State took 24th place at the NAIA National Championships over the weekend in Kansas, with Edrich Nortje leading the way.

Nortje won his final match via fall on Saturday to clinch a seventh-place finish and cement his status as a 2024 All-American. He led the four Blue Hawk wrestlers that made the trip to the national tournament as Jose Gonzalez (125) was knocked out in the round of 12 and finished with a 3-2 record, Jackson King (184) finished in the round of 16 with a 2-2 overall record, and Tate Nordby (174) was knocked out after day one after dropping both of his matches.

A relatively young squad, DSU is expected to return a large portion of their current roster next season as they look to build off a strong 2023-2024 campaign.
