Jamestown, N.D. – Dickinson State's volleyball team fell to #4 Jamestown, 3-0, in Scott Gym on Thursday as they honored their four seniors. Madi Wahl, McKenzie Moser, Abby Suiter, and Haydin Henschel were all honored on Thursday as the Blue Hawks also celebrated Pink Night for Breast Cancer Awareness. DSU battled in front of the home crowd but were ultimately overpowered by the visiting Jimmies, who extended their record to 20-1 overall and 9-1 in conference play.
The Blue Hawks started strong in the first set, staying within reach and closing the gap to 25-22 before Jamestown pulled ahead to secure the win. The Jimmies hit .353 in the first set, while Dickinson State hit .200.
Despite the Blue Hawks' efforts, Jamestown maintained control, claiming the next two sets by identical 25-17 scores.
Freshman Ava Jahner led the DSU offense with six kills and added two aces on .333 hitting, while senior Scarlette Schwindt contributed ten kills. Setter Rylee Kogolshak tallied 26 assists, and defensively, Aubrey Allison led DSU with 12 digs, while Haydin Henschel had seven and Abigail Beddes added four.
With the loss, Dickinson State's record moves to 5-20 overall and 1-9 in NSAA play.
The Blue Hawks now turn their attention to the NSAA tournament next week as they await their destination. Several tiebreakers will be in effect to determine the final four seeds after regular season co-champions Jamestown and Bellevue.
