Kori Nagel named NSAA and NAIA Field Athlete of the Week

Bismarck, N.D. – Kori Nagel has been named both the North Star Athletic Association and NAIA National Women’s Field Athlete of the Year, the league announced Wednesday.

Nagel won all three throwing events in the Montana State Billings Yellowjacket/Battlin’ Bears Open for Dickinson State. She hit all NAIA ‘A’ automatic qualifying marks in all three throwing events, with each placing her in the top 5 in the NAIA. Nagel captured the titles in the shot-put with 14.51 meters toss (47 feet, 7.25 inches), discus with 45.54 meters throw (149 feet, 5 inches), and hammer throw with 53.92 meters mark (176 feet, 11 inches).

“Kori is a special athlete,” said head coach Shayne Wittkopp. “Her combination of talent and work ethic isn’t something you see every day. She’s a great leader, and humble, and I couldn’t be happier for her. She had a great weekend but our coaching staff wasn’t surprises as she puts in a lot of work behind the scenes to prepare for these opportunities.”
