"This was the first warm meet we had all year," said head coach Shayne Wittkopp. "It was good to see so many of our athletes take advantage with good performances. We had solid performances on and off the track. A standard performance by Tori Nygard in the HT and Galen Brantly in the SP as well as provisional qualifying performances for Chloe Gunderson in the Discus and Tayler Laumeyer in the SP were great to see. Jewel continues to have a dominant year no matter what kind of wind she has to run into. Her performance in the 400m was impressive considering the head wind she had to finish into. Freshen Kara Reed also ran fantastically in the 400 hurdles finishing into a stiff headwind. Track meets aren't easy to host so I'd like to express my gratitude to everyone that helped. It was great to have the friends of Mike Carlson on campus for the dedication of the 1500m run in his honor. Alumni are such an important part of the fabric of the DSU family, and it was great to see all of those involved."
