Nagel and Wrzesinksi sweep NSAA women's Athlete of the Week awards

DICKINSON - The Dickinson State women's track and field team swept the North Star Athletic Association Athletes of the Week awards, the league announced Tuesday. Wrenzi Wrzesinski and Kori Nagel took home the awards after their performances at the Yellow Jacket Invite in Billings, Montana over the weekend.

Wrzesinski earned a pair of first-place finishes in the Yellow Jacket Invitational. She clocked the NAIA ‘A’ automatic qualifying and school record time of 1 minute, 2.14 seconds to win the 400-meter hurdles.  She added a time of 14.75 seconds to capture the 100-meter hurdles title. Wrzesinski’s times in the 100- and 400-meter hurdles are the fastest times in the North Star Athletic Association.

Nagel produced three national qualifying marks in the Invitational. She hit the NAIA ‘A’ automatic qualifying mark of 45.58 meters (149 feet, 6 inches) to win the discus throw title. Nagel added the shot-put title with the NAIA ‘B’ provisional qualifying mark of 13.26 meters (43 feet, 6 inches). She earned a runner-up honor in the hammer throw with the NAIA ‘B’ provisional mark of 49.52 meters (162 feet, 6 inches).  Nagel’s hammer throw is also her career-best mark.
