Gainsville, Fla. – Dickinson State wrapped up the NAIA National Championships in Gainesville, Florida, with the women placing 11th and the men finishing 27th. Several Blue Hawks earned All-American honors with standout performances in both track and field events.
For the women, Kori Nagel led the way with a second-place finish in the shot put and a third-place effort in the weight throw. Faith Brennan also secured a runner-up finish in the triple jump. Kaitlyn McColly placed fifth in the pentathlon, while Jewel Olson set a school record in the 400 meters.
On the men's side, Galen Brantley III took fourth in the shot put, with Corbin Harris finishing seventh. Dylan Dahlgren added a sixth-place finish in the weight throw.
Faith Brennan led the Blue Hawks in the jumps, placing second in the triple jump with a mark of 12.22 meters (40 feet, 1.25 inches), securing eight points for the team. Adarra Hagelund cleared 1.60 meters (5 feet, 3 inches) in the high jump to place 13th, while Madison Wahl finished 11th in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.60 meters (11 feet, 9.75 inches).
In throws, Kori Nagel recorded two top-three finishes. She placed second in the shot put with a throw of 15.22 meters (49 feet, 11.25 inches) and took third in the weight throw at 18.50 meters (60 feet, 8.5 inches). Chloe Gunderson placed ninth in the shot put with a mark of 13.58 meters (44 feet, 6.75 inches), while Taylor Laumeyer finished 17th at 12.39 meters (40 feet, 7.75 inches). Laumeyer also competed in the weight throw, placing 20th with a mark of 15.19 meters (49 feet, 10 inches).
On the track, Jewel Olson posted a time of 55.49 seconds in the 400-meter preliminaries but was disqualified in the final. Mia Handran placed 12th in the 800-meter preliminaries with a time of 2:18.69. In the 60-meter hurdles, Kaitlyn McColly finished 11th in the preliminaries with a time of 8.66 seconds.
The 4x400 relay team of Kyley Barnett, Handran, Olson, and Peyton McLaughlin placed 16th with a time of 3:56.13.
In the men's pole vault, sophomore Adrien Calderon cleared 4.75 meters (15 feet, 7 inches) to finish 13th. He cleared the bar on his first attempt at that height before being eliminated at 4.80 meters.
Senior Galen Brantley III led the Blue Hawks in the shot put, finishing fourth with a top throw of 16.65 meters (54 feet, 7.5 inches). He recorded the mark on his first attempt and followed with additional throws of 16.56 meters and 16.18 meters. Senior Corbin Harris placed seventh at 16.38 meters (53 feet, 9 inches), also landing the mark on his third attempt. Nathan Woodruff did not record a legal throw.
In the men's weight throw, junior Dylan Dahlgren secured a sixth-place finish with a top effort of 18.36 meters (60 feet, 3 inches) on his third attempt. His series also included throws of 17.44 meters, 17.79 meters, and 17.98 meters. Harris placed 15th with a best mark of 17.26 meters (56 feet, 7.5 inches), which came on his second attempt.
