Blue Hawks sweep final women's indoor track Athletes of the Week

DICKINSON - The Dickinson State women's indoor track and field team swept the final North Star Athletic Association Athletes of the Week awards, the league announced Tuesday.

Kaitlyn McColly and Kori Nagel were voted Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively. This is Nagel's third award this season (out of five possible weeks) and McColly's first.

Nagel produced a pair of NAIA 'A' automatic throwing marks in the NCAA Division I meet South Dakota State Indoor Classic. She placed sixth in the shot-put toss with a personal record mark of 14.25 meters (46 feet, 9 inches) on her final attempt.  Her shot-put toss currently ranks tied for fourth best in the NAIA. Nagel added a personal best weight throw toss of 16.72 meters (54 feet, 10.25 inches), finishing eighth for the Blue Hawks. Her weight throw ranks 13th in the nation. She was the top NAIA place finishers in both throwing events. 

McColly was on a pair of relay teams that produced NAIA national qualifying times for Dickinson State (N.D.) in the South Dakota State Indoor Classic. She ran on the 4 x 800-meter relay team that posted the NAIA 'A' automatic qualifying time of 9 minutes, 35.33 seconds, placing second in the race (Blue Hawks' season best time in 4 x 800-meter relay, fourth fastest in the NAIA, and second fastest all-time in school history). She ran with a split of 2 minutes, 23 seconds in the relay.  McColly was also on DiSU's 4 x 400-meter relay team that finished with the NAIA 'B' provisional qualifying time of 3 minutes, 57.65 seconds, placing seventh in the race. She registered a split of 57.8 seconds, fueling the Blue Hawks to their new school record time in the 4 x 400-meter relay.
