Women put up strong showing at SDSU Indoor Classic

Sagan Osborne | Dickinson State Sports Information Director

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Dickinson State women's indoor track and field team took ninth place at the South Dakota State University Indoor Classic on February 10-11.

More records fell as the DSU women continue their strong 2023 indoor season, led by a record setting effort by Elizabeth Widmer, Kaitlyn McColly, Wrenzi Wrzesinski, and Jewel Olson in the 4x400 relay. Their time of 3:57.65 was good enough for seventh place at the meet, and is the best time in the North Star Athletic Association by a full eight seconds. Nationally, the time comes in as the fourth fastest time in the NAIA this season.

The 4x800 relay team also had a strong showing, as Widmer, McColly, Grace Timm, and Natalie Lile clocked the second fastest time in DSU history at 9:35.33. The time is a blazing 56 seconds faster than any other in the NSAA this season and is an "A" qualifying time for the national meet.

On the field side, Kori Nagel continued to impress with throws of 14.25m and 16.72m in the shot put and weight throw, respectively. Both throws are the best in the NSAA and are ranked in the top 13 nationally.
