Dickinson, N.D. – Dickinson State struggled offensively in a 67-50 loss to Jamestown on Friday evening at Scott Gymnasium. The Blue Hawks fell behind early and were unable to recover, despite a late push in the fourth quarter.
Jamestown took control in the opening quarter, outscoring Dickinson State 22-12. The Jimmies shot 57.1% from the field in the first 10 minutes while limiting the Blue Hawks to 25%. Dickinson State failed to establish a consistent scoring presence, finishing the game shooting 35.6% overall.
The second quarter followed a similar pattern, as Jamestown extended its lead to 42-24 at halftime. The Blue Hawks improved their shooting efficiency to 45.5% in the period, but the Jimmies capitalized on second-chance opportunities and turnovers. Jamestown finished with a 12-2 advantage in second-chance points and an 8-2 edge in points off turnovers.
Dickinson State's offense struggled coming out of the break, managing just seven points in the third quarter. The Jimmies took advantage, increasing their lead to 58-31 by the end of the period. The Blue Hawks hit only 23.1% of their shots in the quarter, while Jamestown maintained a steady offensive output.
The Blue Hawks showed some fight in the final 10 minutes, outscoring Jamestown 19-9. Dickinson State shot 53.3% from the field in the fourth, its best mark of the game, but the deficit was too large to overcome. The Blue Hawks held Jamestown to 21.4% shooting in the final period but could not erase the early damage.
Kayden Steele led Dickinson State with 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Samantha Oase added nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Anhelica Shanrock contributed six points but struggled from the field, shooting 2-for-14.
Jamestown was led by Kate Cordes with 12 points and four assists. The Jimmies had a balanced attack, with three other players scoring at least eight points. Jamestown finished the game shooting 37.3% overall, including 8-for-27 from beyond the arc.
Dickinson State was held to just four made three-pointers on 14 attempts. Free-throw shooting also played a factor, as the Blue Hawks converted only 4-of-10 attempts, while Jamestown hit 15-of-17 from the line.
