Madison, S.D. – Dickinson State fell to No. 6 Dakota State Trojans in an NSAA conference game on Saturday at the DSU Fieldhouse. Dickinson State struggled to maintain consistent offensive momentum, ultimately dropping the contest 88-53.
The Trojans opened the game with a dominant first quarter, outscoring the Blue Hawks 26-12. Dakota State capitalized on turnovers and fast breaks, showcasing their depth and efficiency throughout the game. Dickinson State committed 27 turnovers, leading to 23 points for the Trojans. The Blue Hawks' defensive effort was unable to contain Dakota State's offensive execution, as the home team shot 48.4% from the field.
Dickinson State's offense found some rhythm in the second quarter, shooting 54.5% from the field and scoring 14 points. Forward Katherine Fox led the Blue Hawks with 10 points, including two three-pointers, and added three rebounds. Brae Eneboe contributed seven points off the bench, helping Dickinson State keep pace with Dakota State during portions of the second and third quarters.
Despite an improved shooting effort in the middle quarters, Dickinson State struggled to close out defensive possessions, allowing the Trojans to secure 14 second-chance points. Dakota State also dominated in the paint, outscoring the Blue Hawks 38-22. Samantha Oase led Dickinson State with seven rebounds, but the Blue Hawks could not contain Dakota State's post presence, led by Tabor Teel, who recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The fourth quarter proved challenging for Dickinson State, as they were outscored 28-9. The Trojans extended their lead behind strong bench play, finishing with 40 points from reserves. The Blue Hawks shot just 21.4% in the final quarter and struggled to overcome Dakota State's defensive pressure.
Despite the loss, Dickinson State showed efficiency at the free-throw line, converting all seven attempts. The team also connected on 37.5% of their three-point attempts. Guard Kayden Steele added five points, while Dylan Stedillie contributed seven points off the bench.
