Blue Hawk offense soars in series sweep of Dakota State

Jamestown, N.D. – Despite having to move their series from Madison, S.D. to the indoor dome in Jamestown, Dickinson State cruised to a four-game sweep of Dakota State to move to 7-1 in North Star Athletic Association play.

Game One – DSU 9 DaSU 1

After going scoreless in the first inning, DSU put up at least two runs in each of the next four innings to earn the five-inning mercy rule victory over Dakota State.

Cassy Loa, Dallis Mitchell, Cassidy Venner, and Bailey Hansen all had multi-hit games for the Blue Hawks, while Mitchell went all 5 innings in the circle allowing just one run on 5 hits while striking out five Trojan hitters.

Game Two – DSU 11 DaSU 3

Bailey Hansen went 3-3 with a triple and an RBI as Dickinson State took advantage of 4 Trojan errors to take game two, 11-3.

The Blue Hawks got another complete game in the circle, this time from Hope Fath, as she went all six innings allowing 3 runs on five hits while striking out three. DSU hammered out 13 hits, getting multi-hit games from HaiLeigh Davis, Loa, Karissa Comer, Hansen, and Jai Maddox-Hernandez.

Game Three – DSU 9 DaSU 4

The Blue Hawks raced out to an 8-1 run over the first three and half innings and cruised to a 9-4 win in game three on Friday.

Of DSU's 13 hits, five were doubles, as they built their early lead and weathered a three-run bottom of the fourth from Dakota State to earn the win.

Reannan Butler earned the win in relief, going 3.2 innings and allowing no runs on just one hit while striking out two.

Kiley Hubby and Cassidy Venner led the offense with three RBI each as they both picked up a pair of hits.

Game Four – DSU 10 DaSU 2

Dickinson State scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning to earn their third mercy-rule win of the week and sweep the series.

Kiley Hubby went 4-4 to lead the offense, as DSU scored 10 runs on 11 hits, all singles, and walked seven times.

Fath earned her second win of the series, this time in relief, as she went 4.1 scoreless innings allowing just two hits and two walks.
