Tucson, Ariz. – Dickinson State picked up a pair of wins on Saturday in Tucson, taking down Tabor, 3-0, and Williamette, 6-4, to earn the daily sweep.
Game One – DSU 3 TC 0
Dallis Mitchell twirled a complete game gem, going seven innings and allowing no runs on six hits, to lead DSU to a 3-0 win over Tabor College on Saturday morning. Mitchell also went 3-3 with a walk at the plate to lead the Dickinson State offense.
Despite gathering 10 hits, DSU was held to just single runs in the second, fifth, and seventh innings on RBI base hits from Jai Maddox-Hernandez and Karissa Comer, and a steal of home by Cassy Loa, but it was more than enough for Mitchell on the day.
Game Two DSU 6 WU 4
A five-run sixth inning erased a 4-1 deficit as Dickinson State stunned Williamette University in game two on Saturday.
Trailing 4-1 in the sixth, DSU loaded the bases on walks to Mitchell, Kara Conway, and Ashlee Potter with one out. HaiLeigh Davis followed with a two-RBI double to left field to make it 4-3 WU. Maddox-Hernandez walked to load the bases, but Williamette was able to get a strikeout for the second out. With Loa at bat, a passed ball allowed Potter to score and tie the game, and after a walk, Comer brought home two more runs on a single to left for the final tallies.
The Blue Hawks made the most of their four hits on the day, getting RBI on three including an RBI-single by Mitchell in the first inning. Alexa Kappel earned the win in relief after going 1 inning and allowing no runs on one hit, while Mitchell continued her career day by earning the save in the seventh.
