Blue Hawks drop pair at Jamestown dome to open season

Jamestown, N.D. – Dickinson State dropped a pair of games on Friday in Jamestown to open their 2024 season. The Blue Hawks fell 8-0 to NCAA Division II Northern State in five innings in game one before falling 6-0 to the University of Jamestown in the nightcap.

Game One – NSU 8 DSU 0

Northern State controlled the action from the beginning, holding the Blue Hawks to just one hit over five innings in the game. Kara Conway collected the lone DSU hit, a one-out single in the fifth inning, as DSU struck out 14 times in the game. Dallis Mitchell earned a walk as the only other Blue Hawk to reach base.

Game Two – UJ 6 DSU 0

Bailey Hansen went 2-3 with two singles, while Conway and Alexa Kappel each added singles, but the Blue Hawks were again held scoreless in a 6-0 defeat. Hope Fath threw a scoreless inning of relief for the Blue Hawks.
