Blue Hawks fall twice on Saturday in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Dickinson State softball team went 0-2 on Saturday in Tucson, falling to (RV) St. Francis (Ill.) 8-2 in game one before dropping game two 5-0 to Embry-Riddle (Ariz.).

GAME 1

St. Francis jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first two innings and held on for an 8-2 victory. Cassidy Venner drove in both Blue Hawk runs with a two-run double in the top of the third inning. Ari Martinez went 2-3 with a double as the only Blue Hawk with multiple hits.

GAME 2

The teams were locked in a scoreless tie until a four-run inning from Embry-Riddle broke the game open in the top of the fifth inning. All four runs in the inning were unearned as the only two Blue Hawk errors on the game came in the inning.

Dickinson State collected six hits for the game, all singles, but no player had more than one hit.

The Blue Hawks will take on St. Clair College and Doane University on Sunday in Tucson at 12:30 and 3:30 pm.
