TUCSON, Ariz. – A pair of nationally ranked opponents were able to hold down the Dickinson State softball team as they fell 5-0 to #2 Indiana Wesleyan and 8-0 to #17 Northwestern College.

GAME 1

A Dallis Mitchell double in the seventh inning broke up a potential no-hitter as the NAIA's second ranked team held DSU scoreless in game one. Mitchell also led the Blue Hawks from the circle, going the full 6.0 innings and allowing 5 runs on 8 hits, while walking and striking out three.

GAME 2

The Blue Hawk offense was able to put up seven hits in game two but were still unable to push across a run as they fell 8-0 to #17 Northwestern College (Iowa).

Rhea Paiva went 2-3, while Mitchell, Ari Martinez, Hailey Enriquez and Emma Woodworth all picked up single hits for DSU. Kaitlyn Rizo reached base twice, both on walks, as the only other Blue Hawk baserunner. The Red Raiders scored runs in four of the five innings to force the 8-run mercy rule after the fourth inning on ten hits and two Blue Hawk errors.

WHATS NEXT

The Blue Hawks will take on St. Francis (Ill.) and Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) at 9:00 and 11:00 am on Saturday.
