ABERDEEN, S.D. – Dickinson State used a 14-hit attack to take down College of Saint Mary for the second straight day, 10-3, but also fell to the University of Jamestown, 5-2, on Saturday.

GAME 1

Ari Martinez struck out 9 batters in 6.1 strong innings to earn the victory for Dickinson State in game one. She allowed 3 runs on 11 hits but walked no batters. Hailey Enriquez homered for the second consecutive game and went 2-4 to help lead the Blue Hawk offense.

Cassidy Venner extended her consecutive at bats with a hit streak to seven, going 3-3 on the game after a 4-4 effort against the Flames on Friday. Her first inning single scored Dallis Mitchell and Martinez to put DSU up 2-0 with one out in the inning.

Mitchell extended the Blue Hawk lead to 5-0 with an RBI triple in the fourth inning before scoring on a Martinez single one batter later. Venner scored the seventh Blue Hawk run when she stole home in the fifth and DSU added even more insurance runs in the seventh on Enriquez's home run and a two-RBI double by Kara Conway.

After CSM finally broke through against Martinez for all three of their runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Alexa Kappel entered in relief and struck out both batters she faced to slam the door.

GAME 2

Emma Woodworth went 3-3 and drove in a run to lead the DSU offense, but for the second day in a row the Blue Hawks couldn't quite get past the University of Jamestown as they fell, 5-2, on Saturday.

The Jimmies took a 3-0 lead into the sixth inning before DSU was able to break through and score their first runs. Woodworth scored Enriquez with a single, and then scored on a Conway fielder's choice to make it 3-2, but UJ was able to escape the jam with a strikeout to retain the lead.

Jamestown responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to stretch their lead back to three and held the Blue Hawks scoreless in the seventh to seal the win.

WHATS NEXT

The Blue Hawks will stay in Aberdeen one more day to take Doane University tomorrow, February 19, at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.
