The Dickinson State University Rodeo Team traveled to Fort Dodge, IA, for a college rodeo from September 24-25, 2021. There were 30 competing members who traveled to Iowa to represent the Blue Hawks. Overall, it was a good weekend for both the men's and women's teams at the Triton Stampede Rodeo.

Competing strong and placing in multiple events was senior Sterling Lee (SR/Rhame, ND). Sterling was the steer wrestling champion and placed 5th in the calf roping. Junior Landon Sivertsen (JR/Ree Heights, SD) finished strong by placing 3rd in the steer wrestling. Heeling in the team roping was junior Thomas Hall (SR/Dunn Center, ND) who roped two feet in the short-go to place second. Freshman cowboy, Tanner Jarrett (FR/South Heart, ND), placed 3rd in the bareback riding for the weekend while freshman Beau Retzlaff (FR/Carrington, ND) placed 10th in the steer wrestling. As a team, the Blue Hawk Men finished in 2nd place.

On the cowgirls side of things, senior Jade Boote (SR/Binford, ND) came home as the breakaway roping champion. In the barrel racing, freshman Kelly Bang (FR/Killdeer, ND) finished fourth.

The Blue Hawks continue to compete strong within their 2021-2022 rodeo season. The rodeo team will host a double home rodeo September 30-October 2, 2021, to compete in their fifth and sixth rodeos to finish out the fall season.
