Bio

Shayne Wittkopp heads both the T&F and XC teams at Dickinson State. In 6 seasons, Shayne has lead the Hawks to 15 conference titles in the North Star Athletic Conference. His Blue Hawks hold 26 North Star Conference Records, 22 most valuable athletes, and 132 Individual conference champions. Under Wittkopp the Hawks have broken 21 DSU school records and had 15 NAIA All American performances.

Shayne got his start at collegiate level coaching at Dickinson State in 2007 when he assisted in coaching the jumps for the Blue Hawks. He coached several successful athletes on a national level including and NAIA National Championship triple jumper, 2 runners-up in indoor and outdoor long jump, a 3rd place finisher in outdoor long jump, two All-Americans, one school record holder, two conference meet record holders, and three first-time national qualifiers.

As an athlete and Blue Hawk alumni, Wittkopp was a six-time national qualifier, and a top-ten finisher at the NAIA National track meet in triple jump. In 2004, 2005, and 2006, Shayne was a member of the DSU Outdoor National Championship teams and in 2003 was a member of the runner-up team. Shayne was also a member of the 2002 DSU Conference Championship Football Team.

Wittkopp graduated from Dickinson State University with his Bachelor of Science in University Studies with a coaching minor. He later went on to Central Washington University where he received his Master of Science degree in Exercise Science.

Shayne resides in Dickinson with his wife Ann (who is also a DSU alumnus) and two sons, Peyton and Ethan.
