Men's Cross Country takes second at NSAA Conference Meet
DICKINSON, N.D. - Dakota State landed eight of the top 10 runners to help lead them to a fifth consecutive men's cross country North Star title. Dickinson State University (N.D.) hosted the 2022 championships at Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson.
Dakota State tallied 19 points in the conference meet. Dickinson State took second with 67 points, while Viterbo (Wis.) (92) narrowly beat out Bellevue (Neb.) (97) for third and fourth place, respectively. Valley City State (N.D.) came in fifth with 106 points and Waldorf (Iowa) took sixth with 157 points.
Dakota State will represent the North Star Athletic Association at the NAIA national meet, which is scheduled for Nov. 18 in Talahassee, Fla.
Cody Farland of Dakota State won the 2022 NSAA Men's Cross Country individual title with a time of 26 minutes, 11.10 seconds. He was also named as the league's Runner-of-the-Year.
The top 10 individual runners in the conference meet are named to the NSAA All-Conference Team.
Cameron La Mere of Viterbo, Dominic Santiago of Valley City State, and Cole Jensen and Will Flowers of Dickinson State all earned individual qualifiers to the NAIA National Championships by finishing as the top four runners not on the winning team. The runners must also finish in the top 15 to qualify.
Anthony Drealan of Dakota State was selected as the NSAA Men's Cross-Country Coach-of-the-Year.
The NSAA Champions of Character recipients are Collin Kotz (Bellevue), Tucker Murtha (Dakota State), Tyrel Ackman (Dickinson State), Bryce Nelson (Valley City State), Ben Fleuchaus (Viterbo) and Andrew Huber (Waldorf).
