Bio

Ryan Upchurch graduated from Dickinson State University in 2005 where he earned a bachelor’s degree in History. He was a member of the Blue Hawk wrestling team from 2002-2004 and before that wrestled for Sacramento City College in California where he was a member of the 2000 California Community College State Dual meet championship team.

After College, Ryan returned to his alma mater in California, Calaveras High School, and began teaching and coaching wrestling. In the 16 years of High School wrestling as either an assistant, or head coach, Ryan helped guide Calaveras wrestling to 15 Sac Joaquin Section championships and left the program on a three year undefeated dual meet streak. Many of his wrestlers went on to wrestle at the collegiate level, but one notably was Dickinson State wrestling All American and former assistant coach Tyler Brown, class of 2016.

Ryan currently resides in Dickinson with his wife Leah(DSU Graduate 2006), and their three children Devlin, Fischer, and Sienna. He is a Social Studies teacher at New England Public School.
