Blue Hawks Battle Hard but Fall to Montana State-Northern

The Dickinson State men's wrestling team battled against Montana State-Northern in a hard-fought dual but fell short against the Lights. Despite several strong performances, the Blue Hawks were unable to secure the team victory.

At 125 pounds, Jose Gonzalez started strong but was pinned by Kolten Powers at the three-minute mark. The Lights continued their momentum at 133, where Wyatt Engwicht dropped a tough 9-0 major decision to Caleb Morales.

The Blue Hawks got on the board at 141 pounds as Kavika Aholelei won by forfeit. That momentum carried into the 149-pound match, where William Sprenger delivered an impressive pin over Caeleb Ishmael in just 2:19.

Montana State-Northern responded at 157 pounds as Justin Windauer secured a dominant 15-0 technical fall over Ian Mehrens in the first period. The Lights continued their streak at 165, with Travis Waldner edging Kale Corley in a close 4-1 decision.

At 174 pounds, Dickinson State forfeited, giving Devin Crawford an uncontested win. In the 184-pound matchup, Jackson King faced off against Rylin Burns a rematch from the 2024 National Tournament, King fought hard, but fell short in a 10-4 decision.

Donivan Giangregorio provided a bright spot for the Blue Hawks at 197 pounds, dominating Lucas Thacker with an 18-3 technical fall in five minutes.

The dual concluded at heavyweight, where Seth Suvak put up a tough fight but was ultimately pinned by Shane Mattson at 5:23.
