Bio

Ben Knight is from Imperial Beach, Ca. where he attended Cuyamaca Community College in Rancho San Diego. He won numerous awards there as 2003 Athlete of the year, 5 overall national placer at Jr. Nationals in 2001, 3rd overall at in 2001 and State champion in 2003 in the decathlon. He came to DSU in August of 2003 for track and field and walked on to play football from 03 and 04 seasons.

Ben was a four time All-American in track and field. He was runner-up in the 2004 Decathlon and was an All-American in the javelin in both 2004 and 2005. In 2005 Knight won the individual national championship in the decathlon. He is the only Blue Hawk athlete to do this in this event. He helped lead the 2004 and 2005 teams to National championships and was a coach on the 2006 national title team. He currently holds the school record for the decathlon.

After DSU he joined the North Dakota Army National Guard and continue to serve as an Engineer Officer in the 164 Engineer Battalion out of Minot, ND. For the civilian side, he works for Multi Chem as a Field Service Rep for the past 3 years. He has 3 daughters and 1 son and a grandson; Julian, Deserae, Breanna, Keegan and Mateo. He is married to Michaela Jung Knight for 8 years and currently resides in Dickinson.
