Fergus Falls, Minn. - After a sudden schedule change, the Blue Hawks altered their focus to the Spartan Invitational at Pebble Lake Golf Course. Weather conditions were pristine for scoring as the DSU women set a team record with 1st place and a score of 313. The women also boasted 7 players inside the top 10 including positions 1st through 6th. Ellia Soydara finished 1st with a score of 75, followed by Cheyenne Jacobs 76, Elly Leblanc 78, and Jori Haugen 80, rounded out by a pair of 84's from Brooklyn Materi and Kerialynn Weidner. Coach Thadd O'Donnell had this to say about the women's performance, "The women had a great day. 3 scores in the 70's show the caliber of this team. Ellia leading the team and winning the tournament is a great accolade."

The men saw some success today taking 2nd place as a team with a score of 304 finishing 9 strokes behind the leaders Alexandria Tech & Community College. The Blue Hawks were led by freshman Torrin Ellis who carded a round of 71, losing in a playoff to ATech's Drew Imdieke. Coach Thadd O'Donnell said, "Having one of our freshmen shoot 1 under (par) and tie for the lead was great to see." Senior Blake Barner fired off a 74 to take T-5th followed by a pair of freshmen in Braxton Wolfe 79 T-12th and Jayce Johnson 80 T-15th. "No one on the men's team has played this course so shooting 304 shows they can play pretty dang well." Coach Thadd O'Donnell talked about today's performance.

The Blue Hawks head to Village Green Golf Course in Moorhead, Minn. to face Valley City State University in a one-day duel on September 7th.
