Blue Hawks put up strong showing at Montana Tech Invite

BUTTE, Mont. – The Dickinson State golf teams put forward some strong showings in their first tournament of the season, with the men claiming second place at the Montana Tech Invitational, and the women placing fifth.

Bryce Reed led the men's squad, shooting a +3, 213, over the three round tournament to take home second place individually, just one stroke off the leader. Reed carded 12 birdies for the tournament to highlight his strong performance. Blake Barner shot a +6, 216, to also finish in the top ten at sixth, while Jack Solberg finished just outside the top ten at T12.

"Our men's team put together three great rounds even when we mixed our starting line up," said head coach Thadd O'Donnell. "The competitiveness of this team is what makes coaching enjoyable. Individually, there were a lot of great performances. Bryce was battling for the medalist right to the last hole and Blake had a low round of 69. I am very proud of how we went out to a Frontier Conference meet and performed at a high level. They work hard at their game and it is starting to show."

Elly Kaupa LeBlanc finished T6 to lead the women's team over a two round tournament, shooting a first round 77 to keep herself firmly in the top 10.
