Blue Hawks blister VCSU, move to 6-0 in NSAA play

Dickinson, N.D. - Dickinson State put on a shooting clinic Friday night, cruising to a 93-74 victory over Valley City State in North Star Athletic Association play. The win improved the Blue Hawks to 11-7 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the conference, maintaining their spot atop the NSAA standings.

Led by sharp perimeter shooting and a balanced offensive attack, Dickinson State built an early lead and never looked back. The Blue Hawks shot a blistering 60.7% from beyond the arc, connecting on 17 of 28 three-point attempts. Trey Stevens spearheaded the effort with a game-high 20 points, knocking down six of seven from long range, while Kose Egbule added 16 points and six assists to pace the offense.

The game opened with Dickinson State seizing momentum early, using a combination of defensive pressure and efficient shooting to secure a 46-39 halftime lead. The Blue Hawks' defensive intensity forced Valley City State into 12 turnovers, which Dickinson State converted into 17 points. Cordell Stinson and Bradyn Palmer anchored the interior presence, combining for 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Valley City State (10-8, 1-5 NSAA) struggled to keep pace despite strong performances from Lamar Grayson, who led the Vikings with 20 points, and Tyrel Creger, who added 11. The Vikings shot a solid 48.3% from the field but failed to match Dickinson State's relentless offensive efficiency.

The Blue Hawks dominated key statistical categories, outrebounding Valley City State 37-28 and tallying 23 assists on 36 made field goals. Their reserves also played a pivotal role, contributing 30 points to outscore Valley City's bench.

In the second half, Dickinson State extended its lead with a barrage of three-pointers, shooting 69.2% from deep after intermission. Aidan Fishell and Gus Wright added key contributions off the bench, combining for 13 points, while John Evans chipped in eight points and four assists.
