Blue Hawk men fall to Bellevue in NSAA title game

Bellevue, Neb. – Dickinson State couldn't shake off a tough shooting night from long distance, as they fell in the North Star Athletic Association title game, 67-47, to #1 seed Bellevue University on Sunday.

Dickinson State went 0-17 from three and, 16-60 from the field, as they struggled to find any offensive rhythm in Bellevue for the second consecutive game. Cordell Stinson scored 11 points to lead DSU, while Kose Egbule scored 10 as the only other Blue Hawk in double figures.

DSU led for the first seven minutes of the contest as both teams struggled to get much going offensively, but Bellevue took a 12-10 lead with just over 11 minutes to go in the half and never looked back.

Free throws were the one facet of the game that Dickinson State had some success, knocking down 15 shots from the charity stripe for just under a third of their total points.

The Blue Hawks will finish the season with a 17-13 overall record, a rapid turnaround for a team that went 8-20 just two years ago.
