Madison, S.D. – Dickinson State got 30 points on 9-14 shooting from Trey Evans to take down Dakota State in their final regular season contest of the 2023-2024 season. With the win the Blue Hawks moved into a four-way tie for third place in the North Star Athletic Association, but with the tiebreakers the Blue Hawks will enter the NSAA Tournament as the six seed and travel to three seed Waldorf.
John Evans chipped in 16 points for DSU, while Kose Egbule added 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. A night after their worst offensive performance of the season, the Blue Hawks blistered the nets, shooting 29-53 (55 percent) from the field and 9-21 (43 percent) from long range to earn the road victory.
The Blue Hawks led wire-to-wire in the game, constantly answering any Dakota State run with one of their own, but never led by more than nine points in the first half and entered the break with just a two-point lead, 37-35.
In the second half, DSU continued to maintain a small lead until the final seven minutes when the Blue Hawks finally took firm control of the game and cruised to a 15-point win.
With the win the Blue Hawks are guaranteed to finish above .500 for the season after finishing last year exactly at that mark.
