Blue Hawk men withstand late rally to take down Carroll

Dickinson, N.D. – Dickinson State got 22 points and 6 assists from Kose Egbule as they held off a furious second half rally by Carroll College to win the final game of the 2023 Coca-Cola Classic, 97-91. Trey Stevens posted his second consecutive big game off the bench, scoring 22 points on 7-12 shooting in the win.

For the second consecutive night, DSU jumped out to a big first half lead. The Blue Hawks used a huge offensive first half to lead by 18, 53-35, heading into the break. The lead grew to 20 early in the second half, but with 16 minutes left in the game Carroll started their comeback. Trailing 64-44, the Saints chipped away at the lead until it was 87-84 Blue Hawks with 2:38 left. Dickinson State never left the visitors from Helena, Montana get any close, however, as they got big stops down the stretch to earn the win.

"I'm super proud of our guys for bouncing back tonight," said head coach Derek Selvig. "We have a lot of stuff to work on this week, but it's always great to get a win. Carroll plays hard, they're tough, and well coached. Hawks are up!"
