TOP FIVE TEST: After having ten days off, the Blue Hawks will return to Scott Gym to take on #6 University of Jamestown on Friday night … the game will be a rematch from earlier this season, when the teams met in Jamestown on November 3 and UJ prevailed in a shootout, 112-84 … Dickinson State has not played a countable game since they dropped their NSAA conference opener at Valley City State on December 3, only playing an exhibition against NCAA Division II University of Mary in Bismarck since then … after a stretch that saw them play six games, all against teams from the Frontier Conference, in just 14 days, the rest came at a much needed time for coach Derek Selvig's squad … Dickinson State features two double figure scorers in John Evans and Gus Wright, but have a balanced offense with Trey Hladky, Kose Egbule, and Tyce Dahlberg all above eight points per game … one key for a Blue Hawk upset on Friday is limiting three point baskets, DSU opponents are shooting 45 percent from deep on the year, and Jamestown shoots 40 percent on the year, averaging nearly 12 made threes per game
THE SERIES SINCE 2009...
vs UJ: UJ leads 19-10
Last: UJ 112-84 (11/3/22 in Jamestown) / Streak: UJ 8
Notes: Jamestown is currently riding an eight-game win streak in the series and have scored more than 90 points in four of the last five games … the last time the teams met in Dickinson was October 21, 2021 as the Jimmies won 93-69
SCOUTING THE FOES: Jamestown comes into the game as one of the top teams in the country, and will likely move into the top five on Wednesday's (12/14) poll … the Jimmies are averaging an eye-popping 91 points per game on 53 percent shooting, while holding opponents to just 72 points on 45 percent shooting … it is no secret that games featuring UJ are high scoring affairs, so look for a lot of fireworks in Scott Gym on Friday night
