FCS SECOND ROUND
Dickinson State moves into the NAIA Football Championship Series Second Round for the second consecutive year after their thrilling 27-20 win over #19 Kansas Wesleyan in the FCS First Round last week. DSU used a big fourth quarter comeback to take down upset-minded KWU in the first playoff game in Dickinson since 2004, and the first at the Biesiot Activities Center. The Blue Hawks now turn their attention west as they travel to Dillon, Montana to take on powerhouse #4 Montana Western. This will be the second straight year the Blue Hawks have faced a Frontier Conference opponent in the FCS after defeating #17 Montana Tech, in Butte, in last year's FCS First Round. Dickinson State is looking for their first win in the round of 16 since a 14-6 upset of Northwestern (IA) in 2018.
THE SERIES
vs UMW: UMW leads 5-1
Last: UMW 35-14 (9/10/22 in Dillon) / Streak: UMW 5
Notes: Montana Western has won the last five matchups, dating back to the 2012 season. The closest game between the teams came in Dickinson in 2021 when the Bulldogs took down DSU 42-30 after the Blue Hawks led 30-21 heading into halftime.
