Blue Hawk cheer takes second at AMC Championships

Columbia, Mo. – Dickinson State cheer placed second at the American Midwest Conference Championships in Columbia, Missouri, finishing with a final score of 90.49. The Blue Hawks also earned several individual honors, including co-Coach of the Year and multiple All-Conference selections.

The Blue Hawks opened with a strong performance, earning a raw score of 264.20 with an average of 88.07. A minor deduction of 0.50 brought their final round one score to 87.57, securing second place behind Saint Ambrose, which led with 87.67.

In the final round, Dickinson State improved its raw score to 275.90 with an average of 91.97. A 0.50 deduction resulted in a final round score of 91.47. Their overall total score of 90.49 secured second place, trailing only Saint Ambrose, which finished with 93.14.

Saint Ambrose maintained its lead throughout, scoring a 273.50 in round one with an average of 91.17. A 3.50 deduction brought their first-round score to 87.67, narrowly edging Dickinson State for the top spot. In the final round, Saint Ambrose recorded a raw score of 286.40 with an average of 95.47. A small deduction of 0.50 left them with a final round score of 94.97, sealing the championship.

William Woods placed third with an overall score of 77.82, followed by UHSP at 48.03 and Columbia at 44.60. William Woods improved from a first-round score of 75.27 to a final round score of 78.67, while UHSP and Columbia struggled to gain ground, posting deductions in both rounds.

Dickinson State remained consistent, showing only slight deductions across both rounds and maintaining its second-place position. The Blue Hawks improved their performance in the final round but were unable to surpass Saint Ambrose, which posted the highest overall total.

The Blue Hawks were well represented in the postseason awards. Head coach Cebe Schneider was named co-Coach of the Year. Four Dickinson State athletes—Kylee Morrison, Teandra Schneider, Tia Madrigga, and Xeia Schneider—earned first-team All-Conference honors. Isabella Brown was selected to the second team, while Aleigha Villars was recognized as a Champions of Character recipient. Academically, Alexia Wold and Kylee Morrison were named to the Academic All-Conference team.
