Blue Hawks take home third place at NCA Nationals

Daytona, Fla. – With the NAIA season over and a fifth-place national finish in hand, Dickinson State cheer headed to Daytona, Florida for the NCA National Championships. DSU competed outdoors for the first time in the Bandshell competition. The Blue Hawks scored an 85.5292 in the final round, good enough for a third-place finish in the Advanced Small Coed NAIA Division.

"NCA College Nationals at Daytona is the Super Bowl of Cheerleading," said head coach Cebe Schneider. "Our team walking away with third as first-time competitors on this stage, is phenomenal. It's different than anything we have done, and honestly anything we've prepared for. Competing outdoors, in direct sunlight with a huge crowd amidst some of the most talented cheer athletes anywhere, really tests your mettle. Our DSU Cheer athletes rose up to the challenge and represented our university, our community, and our state extremely well. We are excited to continue growing and improving. I'm very proud of them! We are grateful for the support from the university, professors and instructors, and the staff and administration. We appreciate the Heritage Foundation and our athletics department for guidance and are deeply grateful for our amazing alumni and donors who help make opportunities like this possible. As always, Hawks are up!"
