Blue Hawks fall to Embry-Riddle in Prescott

Prescott, Ariz. – Dickinson State fell behind early and could not recover in a 12-7 loss to Embry-Riddle on Monday in Prescott, Arizona. The Blue Hawks allowed 10 runs in the first three innings and saw their rally attempt fall short.

Embry-Riddle struck first in the opening inning. After a leadoff single and a walk, the Eagles capitalized with an RBI single from Garza-Nun. Menard followed with a two-run single, giving Embry-Riddle a 3-0 lead.

Dickinson State had an opportunity in the second when Kadin Finders doubled, but the Blue Hawks left him stranded. The Eagles broke the game open in the third with a seven-run inning. Garza-Nun drove in another run before an error extended the inning, leading to a two-run home run from Perez-Ort. The hosts added three more runs on a double by Speck, another double by Truman, and a run-scoring groundout, pushing the lead to 10-0.

The Blue Hawks answered in the fourth. Jadyn Roberts led off with a solo home run to put Dickinson State on the board. Later in the inning, Jerry Santiago Jr. delivered a two-run single, and Moses Dokes doubled in another run, cutting the deficit to 10-4.

Dickinson State continued its push in the fifth. After Roberts reached on an error and Ty Farwell was hit by a pitch, Finders was also hit, loading the bases. Lane Neill drew a walk to force in a run before a double play brought in another, trimming the margin to 10-6.

Embry-Riddle responded in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run double from Garza-Nun, extending its lead to 12-6.

Roberts hit his second home run of the game in the sixth, but that was the last run Dickinson State could produce. The Blue Hawks were held scoreless in the seventh as Cadacio closed out the game for the Eagles.

Trent Richter took the loss, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits over two innings. Cooper Van Luchene and Tate Williams combined to finish the game, allowing five runs (three earned) over the final four innings.

Roberts led Dickinson State at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two home runs and three runs scored. Santiago Jr. and Finders each had two hits, while Neill and Dokes added RBIs.
