Blue Hawks take one from Jamestown in final fall series

Sagan Osborne – Dickinson State Sports & Marketing Information Director

Dickinson, N.D. – Dickinson State got a complete game from Jacob Scully to take game one, 3-2, against the University of Jamestown before falling in game two, 9-4. The fall portion of the Blue Hawks schedule in now over and they will continue in late February.

Game One – DSU 3 UJ 2

Scully went all seven innings and allowed just two runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out four and walking just one to earn the win.

Jamestown took a 2-0 lead with two-out RBI singles in the both the third and fourth innings as the Blue Hawks struggled to get much going offensively in the early innings.

DSU caught a break in the fifth, as they broke the shut out after a bases loaded balk forced in a run to make it 2-1 MSU.

The big blow came in the bottom of the sixth inning, when Cameron Erickson drove a bases-loaded double just off the base of the left field fence to score Preston Jones and Wyatt Wilharm and give DSU their first lead of the day.

Scully slammed the door shut in the top of the seventh inning thanks, in part, to a leaping grab at the wall by right fielder Kadin Finders, to seal the win.

Game Two – UJ 9 DSU 4

Freshman Dylan Hayden went two scoreless innings in his first career start, but a seven-run third inning by Jamestown was too much to overcome as the Jimmies took game two.

DSU got three hits from Kadin Finders, and home runs from Moses Dokes and Cameron Erickson, but never really threatened to make a comeback.
