Blue Hawks outslugged at University of Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Dickinson State tried to mount a late comeback, getting back-to-back home runs from Carlos Molina Jr. and Wyatt Wilharm, but a powerful Jamestown offense was too much to overcome as the Blue Hawks fell 12-4 on Saturday.

The Jimmies scored the first run of the game after a leadoff double came around to score on a fly out and a ground out making it 1-0 UJ after one inning. The Blue Hawks threatened in the second inning, getting the first two runners on with a single by Wilharm and a Jamestown error on a ball hit by Clay Prell, but neither runner would advance after a pop up and two strike outs squashed the rally.

Jamestown broke through in the fourth inning getting four more runs to make it 5-0. Dickinson State got one back in the fifth inning after Alberto Nieto doubled off the wall in right center field and Molina Jr. drove him home with a two-out infield single.

Unfortunately, the Jimmies responded with 2 runs in each of the next two innings to go up 9-1 and seemingly put the game out of reach. The back-to-back homeruns by the Blue Hawks in the eight briefly made things interesting, but UJ answered right back with three runs of their own for the final tally.

Wiharm led the Blue Hawks on offense, going 3-4 with a home run and Molina Jr. drove in three runs after going 2-5 on the day.
