Blue Hawk offense stifled in double header at Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Due to ongoing improvements at Dakota Community Bank & Trust Ballpark in Dickinson, Dickinson State was forced to have its season opening double header on the road at the University of Jamestown. The Blue Hawks were held scoreless on the day as they dropped both games by identical 5-0 scores.

The Blue Hawks got a solid start in game one from Trent Richter, who went four innings allowing just one run on two hits, but a complete game shutout from UJ's Luke Zimmer spoiled the effort. Senior second baseman Keanu Calamayan was the only base runner for the Blue Hawks in the game, scorching a one-out double to the right-center field wall in the first inning. Trevor Ball and Anthony Hanson each made their Blue Hawk debuts in relief, combing to go two innings and allowing four runs on five hits.

The Dickinson State offense improved in game two, outhitting the Jimmies six to five, but a pair of home runs from Jamestown sealed the win. Jackson Schaubel was solid on the mound for the Blue Hawks going 2.2 innings and allowing two runs on two hits in his first start since 2021. Tate Williams was strong in relief, throwing the final two innings and allowing just one hit while striking out two. Michael Wishowski made his DSU debut going 1.1 innings and allowing three runs on two hits.

Kaiden Reeve led the Blue Hawk offense in game two, going 2-3 with a pair of singles. Freshman Jace Buchanan and junior John-Michael Gonzalez Jr. each had a single for their first hits in navy and gray, and Calamayan and Carlos Molina Jr. each added one hit of their own.
