DICKINSON, N.D. – Head Coach Michael Dahl earned his 100th career win as a head coach as Dickinson State completed the four-game sweep of Presentation College on Sunday. The Blue Hawks won 14-2 in game one before taking game two, 6-1, for Dahl's 100th win.

The Blue Hawks have clinched the fifth seed in the NSAA Conference Tournament next week at Dakota Community Bank & Trust Ballpark and will take on fourth seed Mayville State. The full tournament schedule will be announced on Monday.

GAME 1

Early offense propelled the Blue Hawks to a run-away game one victory. Balas Buckmaster homered to left field in the first inning, scoring Keanu Calamayan who singled, to give DSU a quick 2-0 lead.

DSU extended their lead in the second when the first seven batters reached safely. Kael Richards started things off with a hit-by-pitch and Alberto Nieto followed with a bunt single. Derrick Calvillo drove in the first run with an RBI single to center field, and Nieto scored on a ground ball from Calamayan that was mishandled by Presentation. An infield single by Buckmaster loaded the bases for Dawson Cortese who continued his scorching hot weekend with a two-RBI ground rule double to deep left center field. Wyatt Wilharm got in on the action with an RBI single to center before Cade Ostenson made the first out of the inning with a sacrifice fly to score Cortese.

Cortese and Wilharm came through again in the third inning, bringing home three more Blue Hawk runs to make it 11-0 DSU. The final three Blue Hawk runs came on a three-run home run by Cortese in the seventh, his fifth, sixth, and seventh RBI of the game.

DSU starter Trent Richter cruised through five innings allowing just one run on seven hits as he struck out six and walked none. Richie Cortese threw the last two innings in relief for the Blue Hawks, allowing just one unearned run while striking out two and walking one.

GAME 2

Brannan Hogan threw six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits, and he extended his DSU career strikeout record with six more, as the Blue Hawks defeated Presentation 6-1 to complete the four-game sweep.

Each team only had one hit until Dawson Cortese broke the stalemate with a fourth inning home run to center field putting DSU in front, 1-0. Cade Ostenson followed with a double just out of the reach of the first baseman and scored on a double from Jacob Clinton. Kaiden Reeve drove home Clinton with a one-out RBI single to left field for a 3-0 lead.

A two-RBI single from Clinton in the fifth extended the DSU lead to five, and Balas Buckmaster's third home run of the weekend in the seventh provided the final Blue Hawk run. John Koronka worked around some two-out walks in the seventh to slam the door for DSU.
